The Precision Pioneer Patrol (3P) Team of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police's Directorate of Community Service (Sampta) has dismantled a motor vehicle theft network integrated with the distribution of hard drugs and methamphetamine. This intensive sting operation was conducted in East Jakarta early Thursday morning (5/28/2026) at approximately 2:44 a.m. Western Indonesian Time.
Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Public Relations Chief Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto confirmed the disclosure of the multi-case investigation. During the operation, officers apprehended eight suspects from various interconnected roles.
"We, along with relevant agencies, have taken firm action in the field. Starting with a routine patrol, the team successfully apprehended drug dealers in the East Flood Canal (BKT) Bicycle Road area. Further investigation led officers to a motorcycle theft syndicate and methamphetamine dealer," said Budi on Thursday (5/28/2026).
Officers arrested two drug dealers, identified as MS and BP, with 47 Tramadol tablets as evidence. After in-depth interrogation, it was discovered that two other men at the scene, TS (38) and S (28), were part of a motorcycle theft ring that had committed five previous crimes.
Investigation then led to a rented house on Masjid Al Marom street, East Jakarta, which was being used as a storage facility for stolen motorcycles. At the location, the 3P Team arrested two suspected receivers, identified as AP and BF, and confiscated five motorcycles.
Furthermore, officers also arrested two men, identified as WN (31) and MS (27), who are strongly suspected of being methamphetamine dealers. Supporting evidence was found at the location, including electronic scales, bongs, and hundreds of small, transparent plastic clips. The perpetrators admitted that the meth had been sold to Matraman.
To further investigate the network's connections and identify the vehicle owners of the victims, officers immediately coordinated with the police.
"All the perpetrators, along with evidence in the form of machetes and sickles, Y-shaped wrenches, hard drugs, and five stolen motorcycles, have been handed over to the East Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police for further investigation," explained Budi.
The police confirmed that they will oversee the resolution of this case professionally and transparently to ensure that all perpetrators receive legal certainty in accordance with applicable laws. Going forward, large-scale patrols during critical hours will continue to be intensified to limit the movement of street criminals and drug traffickers in the capital and its surrounding areas.
