Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) saw the Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) close lower on Tuesday (7/4/2026), dropping 0.26 percent to 6,971.03 amid escalating geopolitical uncertainty between the United States and Iran.
"Market participants remain cautious as they monitor the shifting dynamics in the Middle East, particularly the potential for a ceasefire balanced against threats to global oil supply routes," said Maximilianus Nico Demus, the Associate Director of Research at Pilarmas Investindo Sekuritas, as cited by antaranews.com.
Investor anxiety deepened as the Indonesian Rupiah weakened to Rp 17,106 per US Dollar, driven by fears that a prolonged conflict could trigger a wider national budget deficit.
While the infrastructure and energy sectors posted modest gains, the industrial and logistics sectors suffered sharp declines of 2.51 and 1.80 percent, respectively. Trading volume reached 27.16 billion shares valued at Rp13.48 trillion, reflecting a defensive stance across regional Asian markets as mediators attempt to broker a 45-day truce.
