inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police raided a warehouse suspected of storing stolen motorcycles in Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. The warehouse is suspected of being owned by a large-scale motorcycle thief syndicate.
The warehouse also contained thousands of motorcycles in varying conditions, from brand-new to worn and dusty. There were also piles of motorcycle parts and spare parts.
"We have uncovered a major case of alleged motor vehicle fence crime. This involved the purchase, storage, and possession of motor vehicles strongly suspected of being the proceeds of crime," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, on Monday (5/11/2026).
The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police's Director of General Crimes, Senior Superintendent Iman Imannudin, stated that the suspicion that the vehicles originated from a crime was strengthened by the lack of official ownership documents. A total of 1,494 vehicles were stored in the warehouse, suspected of being destined for international distribution.
"It is suspected to have originated from a criminal act. The suspect was unable to provide proof of legal ownership," said Iman.
He stated that investigators are still developing the network behind the receiving of stolen vehicles.
