Data from the Indonesian National Police (INP) Traffic Corps indicates that 56,510 traffic accidents occurred nationwide between January and April 2026. The high incidence rate underscores the urgent need for heightened driver compliance with road signals to reduce preventable accidents.

Under Law No. 22 of 2009 on Traffic and Road Transportation, motorists are legally obligated to obey all traffic control signals. Article 287 Paragraph 2 stipulates that drivers who run red lights face penalties of up to two months' imprisonment or a maximum fine of IDR 500,000.
