inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The South Kalimantan Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate has successfully uncovered the smuggling of 43.8 kilograms of methamphetamine from Malaysia, from an interprovincial network affiliated with drug kingpin Fredy Pratama.
"The methamphetamine, wrapped in 44 large packages, was carried by two couriers with the initials AG from Jakarta and RD from Lampung," said South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan on Monday (4/13/2026).
The two suspects were arrested shortly after arriving at the Wisata Hotel in Banjarmasin on Wednesday (4/8/2026), carrying two large suitcases filled with drugs.
Previously, police received information from the public regarding indications of large-scale narcotics smuggling into Banjarmasin. Following up on this information, the Director of the South Kalimantan Regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit, Senior Superintendent Baktiar Joko Mujiono, immediately ordered a team to investigate.
As a result, the suspected courier carrying the methamphetamine was tracked down at a hotel and immediately arrested.
Rosyanto emphasized that the war on drug trafficking continues as an effort to save the nation's future.
"In addition to arresting the distribution network, we must also strive for prevention, and this is a shared responsibility," he emphasized.
