inp.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. Authorities in Aceh have once again disrupted a transnational narcotics trafficking network. The Langsa Sub-regional Police, along with Langsa Customs, seized 46.6 kilograms of methamphetamine suspected to have originated in Malaysia and arrested a man identified as M (33), who is believed to have acted as a courier.
Langsa Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Hyrowo, stated that the bust was the result of collaboration between personnel from the Langsa Sub-regional Police Narcotics Unit and Langsa Customs after receiving information about suspected narcotics trafficking on September 18, 2026.
"The Langsa Police, along with Customs, disrupted the trafficking of 46.6 kilograms of methamphetamine. During the bust, the joint team arrested a suspect identified as M," he said on Monday (9/28/2026) .
This information was then followed up with a joint investigation where they ultimately arrested M in Labuhan Keude Village, Sungai Raya District, East Aceh Regency.
M is known to be a resident of Paningah Village, Muara Batu District, North Aceh Regency.
During the arrest, officers found 44 large packages of methamphetamine wrapped in light blue plastic bags labeled "Cai Yun Li." The total weight of the seized evidence reached 46.6 kilograms.
"In addition to the methamphetamine, officers also found two burlap sacks, a sarong, and confiscated a cell phone and a white Toyota Kijang Innova Reborn minibus with license plate number BK 1453 AGT along with its vehicle registration," he said.
Based on initial investigations, M is suspected of acting as an intermediary or courier in a transnational narcotics network. The methamphetamine was allegedly shipped from Malaysia and then distributed in Indonesia, including Aceh and several other regions.
Investigators subsequently named M a suspect. He is being charged under Article 114 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with ... Article 609 Paragraph (2) Letter (a) of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments.
"M, who has been named a suspect, faces the death penalty, life imprisonment, or a minimum of six years and a maximum of 20 years in prison," said Hyrowo.
He stated that the confiscation of tens of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine is estimated to prevent drug abuse among approximately 372,800 people, assuming that one gram of crystal methamphetamine is used by approximately eight people.
"The discovery of tens of kilograms of crystal methamphetamine breaks the chain of cross-border drug trafficking and supports drug eradication and the protection of the younger generation," said Hyrowo.
