inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology Stella Christie emphasized that the development of artificial intelligence (AI) in Indonesia must be based on ethical values and prioritize the superiority of human thinking.
"Our ability to create abstractions and understand concepts from small amounts of data is something that must not be lost; this is our advantage over AI," said Stella, Thursday (4/23/2026).
According to her, the education system plays a strategic role in fostering critical and conceptual thinking skills, not simply focusing on technical skills. She emphasized that technological advances, including AI, are born from critical thinking and fundamental research.
Stella also believes that AI has two sides: potential risks such as cybersecurity threats and inaccurate information, and benefits as a verification tool and equal access, especially in education.
"Therefore, it is important for us to continue learning to think and contribute to new knowledge for the sake of humanity," said Stella.
She emphasized that AI development in Indonesia needs to be directed towards meeting national needs and helping solve complex data-based problems, while adhering to ethical principles.
