Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Severe hydrometeorological disasters triggered by relentless rainfall have submerged 2,682 houses across Serang Regency, Banten, affecting 13 districts since Friday.
The Serang Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) reported on Sunday evening (8/3/2026) that floods have impacted over 9,000 residents, including hundreds of elderly citizens and toddlers requiring priority supervision. The inundation has shuttered village access roads and damaged public facilities, including schools and local mosques, across 24 villages.
"Based on data collected until 6:00 p.m., a total of 3,099 households or 9,184 individuals have been affected," said BPBD Serang Executive Head Ajat Sudrajat as reported by antaranews.com
Beyond the rising waters, which reached depths of 60 centimeters in Pontang District, the extreme weather also triggered soil movement and downed trees in several hilly areas. Rescue teams are currently distributing logistics while deploying rubber boats and water pumps to the hardest-hit zones. Authorities have urged residents near riverbanks to remain vigilant as the Meteorology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) forecasts continued heavy rain and strong winds.
