Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Meutya Hafid announced on Tuesday (28/4/2026) that TikTok has deactivated 1.7 million underage accounts, becoming the first Electronic System Provider (PSE) to comply with Government Regulation (PP) No. 17/2025, known as PP Tunas, to protect children in the digital space.

"TikTok is the first to report its deactivation numbers and the first to show that commitment is accompanied by concrete steps transparently shared with the public," she said during a press conference in Jakarta, as reported by antaranews.com.

The Minister acknowledged that the mass deactivations might have inadvertently affected some adult users but emphasized that the move is essential for safeguarding the next generation.

Impacted adult users can file appeals for account restoration. TikTok also committed to intensifying its crackdown on digital crimes, such as online gambling. 

Minister Meutya urged other global and local platforms to follow suit by reporting actual compliance measures rather than just voicing commitments.
