Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Trade Budi Susanto said on Wednesday (18/2/2026) that the government will prioritize the production and distribution of "second-brand" cooking oils to ease market reliance on the state-subsidized Minyakita.
"We will increase the availability of second-brand options to serve as companions to Minyakita," he said during the opening of a Ramadan bazaar, as cited by antaranews.com.
Addressing supply constraints in Jakarta, he explained that Minyakita oil’s availability is tied to Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) volumes, which fluctuate alongside palm oil exports. To stabilize the market, the ministry is encouraging producers to reintroduce various alternative brands and smaller packaging sizes, such as 300ml to 500ml, to ensure affordability.
The initiative aims to restore a diverse marketplace where consumers have multiple options beyond the fixed-price Minyakita.
The Minister has already engaged with producers in Bekasi and Palembang to accelerate the distribution of these alternatives while ensuring they meet national quality standards.
