Inp.polri.go.id - Garut. Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi has forecasted that the peak of the 2026 Lebaran homecoming travel surge will occur on 18 March 2026, prompting the government to implement strategic measures to mitigate massive traffic congestion across major transit corridors.
"We anticipate the peak of the exodus on 18 March 2026, and the government has introduced 'Work From Anywhere' ( policies to help distribute departure times more evenly throughout the week," he said during a working visit to the Garut Resort Police in West Java on Saturday (14/3/2026), as cited by antaranews.com.
The Minister said that cross-sectoral coordination between the Ministry, the Indonesian National Police (INP), and regional authorities is already in place to optimize infrastructure and personnel readiness. He urged travelers to conduct meticulous trip planning by monitoring real-time weather updates and official traffic information channels to ensure a safer journey.
Furthermore, the government continues to provide local compensations, such as for traditional horse-cart operators, to clear arterial routes and maintain a smooth flow of vehicles during the high-intensity period.
