The Dumai Sub-regional Police, Riau, seized approximately two kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, four kilograms of marijuana, ecstasy pills, and Happy Five pills in an investigation into alleged narcotics and psychotropic drug trafficking at a hut in a palm oil plantation.
Dumai Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Fatikh, stated that police also arrested a man with the initials WM (36) during the investigation.
The arrest was made at a hut in the palm oil plantation area on Akasia road, Bukit Kayu Kapur Village, Bukit Kapur District, Dumai City, on Saturday (August 22) at around 4:00 p.m.
"We have secured the suspect and all evidence at the Dumai Sub-regional Police for legal proceedings and further investigation," said Fatikh in Dumai on Monday (8/24/2026).
He explained that the investigation began when the police received information from the public regarding alleged narcotics transactions at a hut in the palm oil plantation area.
This information was then followed up with an investigation that led to the arrest of WM by a joint team from the Dumai Sub-regional Police Narcotics Investigation Unit and the Bukit Kapur Sector Police Criminal Investigation Unit.
During a search of the hut, officers found several items suspected to be narcotics and psychotropic substances inside the hut and on the ceiling.
Police seized 50 packages of suspected methamphetamine weighing approximately 2,000 grams and 96.5 pills suspected to be ecstasy of various brands.
Officers also found two packages of powder suspected to be ecstasy weighing approximately 70 grams, 132 Happy Five pills weighing approximately 47 grams, and two packages of dried marijuana leaves weighing approximately 4,000 grams.
In addition to the narcotics and psychotropic substances, police seized Rp 4,614,000 in cash, three digital scales, several plastic clips, a CCTV camera, and two cell phones suspected to be used for communication.
During initial questioning, WM admitted to possessing the recovered evidence.
The results of the urine test on WM showed positive for methamphetamine, while the tests for amphetamine and tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) showed negative results.
