The Head of Public Relations for the Maluku Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Rositah Umasugi, confirmed the stabbing that resulted in the death of the Chairman of the Golkar Party Branch of Southeast Maluku Regency, Agrapinus Rumatora, also known as Nus Kei, on Sunday (4/19/2026). 

The incident occurred at around 11:25 a.m. at the exit of Karel Sadsuitubun Ibra Airport, Kei Kecil District, Southeast Maluku Regency.

According to Umasugi, the victim had just arrived by plane from Jakarta.

"Suddenly, the victim was stabbed by an unknown person using a knife. The perpetrator fled immediately after the incident," explained Rositah.

Following the incident, the victim's family took Nus Kei to Karel Sadsuitubun Hospital at 12:00 p.m. However, the medical team pronounced him dead from his injuries.

Southeast Maluku Sub-regional Police personnel, led directly by Southeast Maluku Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Rian Suhendi, then arrested two suspected perpetrators two hours after the stabbing. 

The two suspects are identified as HR (28) and FU (36). Both perpetrators are currently undergoing intensive questioning.

"Investigators are still looking for the motive behind the murder," said Rositah.

Rian has also ordered his forces to handle this case professionally, transparently, and thoroughly. Developments in the case will be regularly reported to the public.

"We urge the entire public, especially the victim's family and sympathizers, to exercise restraint and entrust the handling of this case to the police. There should be no retaliatory actions that could worsen the situation. Currently, the situation in Southeast Maluku is safe and conducive," urged Rositah.
