inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Law Enforcement Sub-Directorate of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police's Water and Air Security Directorate held a dialogue with fishermen in Kalibaru, Cilincing, North Jakarta.
The event took place at the Coastal Children's Park, Kalibaru, on Monday (5/25/2026). The event provided a communication platform between the police and the fishing community. The police wanted to hear directly about the problems faced by fishermen in coastal areas.
"Through this activity, we want to hear directly from the fishing community's input and complaints. We are here to provide services, protection, and find solutions within its authority," said the Director of Water and Air Security Directorate, Senior Superintendent Mustofa.
During the dialogue, fishermen expressed a number of complaints, including the use of garok fishing gear, which is considered to damage coral reefs, declining catches, the narrowing of fishing areas, the need for floating bagang docking facilities, and the issue of industrial waste.
Mustofa then advised fishermen to immediately report any suspected violations or crimes in the waters. He also emphasized the importance of disseminating fishing gear regulations to prevent conflicts between fishermen.
"If there are incidents or suspected violations, report them immediately. We also encourage dissemination so that fishermen understand which fishing gear is permitted and which is prohibited," he said.
In addition to the dialogue session, the event also included the distribution of basic necessities to the fishing community. The police hopes that communication with fishermen will continue to be maintained to create a safe and conducive coastal area.
