inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) is offering investment opportunities to businesses through a number of strategic government programs to strengthen food security and boost national economic growth.

"The government cannot work alone in building a strong and sustainable food ecosystem. Businesses need to be strategic partners in strengthening the supply chain, distribution, processing, and increasing the added value of the food sector from upstream to downstream," said Zulhas in an official statement received in Jakarta on Wednesday (8/5/2026).

Zulhas made the invitation while attending the 35th National Working Meeting and Consultation of the Indonesian Employers' Association in Makassar on Tuesday (6/4/2026).

According to him, collaboration between the government and businesses is necessary so that various national strategic programs not only function as policies but also create investment opportunities, create jobs, and increase the added value of the food sector.

He mentioned several priority programs that open up opportunities for collaboration with the business world, namely the Merah Putih Village/Sub-district Cooperative (KDMP), the Integrated Modern Fishermen's Area (KNMP), and the Waste-to-Electricity Processing (PSEL).

"KDMP is being prepared as a village economic hub connecting farmers, cooperatives, local businesses, and the wider market," he said.

More than 30,000 KDMPs have been established in various regions of Indonesia and are projected to become centers for food distribution, production absorption, and economic drivers for rural communities.

Previously, the government targeted the completion of 35,872 KDMP buildings by August 2026.

After the initial construction phase is completed, the cooperatives are scheduled to begin operations in September 2026 to support food distribution, the absorption of agricultural and fishery products, and the distribution of various government assistance.
