Jakarta – The Indonesian National Police (INP) said it had investigated Sumba Island’s sale, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on the Private Island Online Website. INP confirmed that the sale of the island was a hoax or fake news.

“The East Sumba Police have conducted an investigation and coordinated with the local government and concluded that the news on the site is not true or a hoax,” said INP Head of Public Information Bureau Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, Wednesday (10/2/2021).

Brigadier General Rusdi said the party would continue to monitor the matter. He said there were no island sales as of the site.

“The news on the site is untrue; the East Sumba Police and the Regional Government continue to monitor this problem,” said Rusdi.

Previously, the Public saw the Private Island Online website listing Sumba Island and its photos. The website says Sumba Island is sold based on the price that buyers bid.

The island of Sumba in NTT is one of eight islands in Indonesia that are said to be sold on the Private Island Online site.
