Papua – Several police personnel are still on guard in Agats, Asmat District, Papua. Police observed the situation in the area to be conducive.
The Chief Asmat Sub-Regional Police, Police Superintendent Danny Gumilar said, 20 Mobile Brigade (Brimob) personnel from Merauke Regency, Papua who participated in strengthening security in the area.
“The Asmat Police received under operational control (BKO) 20 Brimob personnel from Merauke to strengthen security,” said Police Superintendent Gumilar.
Previously, nine of the 11 people suspected of vandalism at the regent’s office and official residence, as well as the KPU office in Agats City, were named suspects.
The masses who did not receive the results of the regional head elections (pilkada) gave speeches at the KPU and election supervisory body (Bawaslu) offices. They then destroyed the regent’s office, the KPU office, the regent’s official residence and looted shop houses.
“The nine suspects are currently detained at the Asmat Sub-Regional Police Headquarters in Agast, while the other three who were also arrested have been sent home,” he said.
