During 13 Days of Thuggery Ops, Banten Police Managed to Arrest 62 People
Inp.polri.go.id – Serang. Banten Regional Police committed to eradicating thuggery until the 13th day, Banten Regional Police and Resort Police [under Banten Regional Police] continue to carry out thuggery operations.
The operation was carried out during the day and at night in locations that were allegedly prone to burglary and illegal levies. There were 62 people who had been detained by the Banten Regional Police and Resort Police [under Banten Regional Police] on thuggery operations in six Resort Police areas.
Chief of Banten Regional Police, Police Inspector General Rudy Heriyanto said the thuggery operation was follow-up of Chief of Indonesian National Police’s instruction.
“We will immediately arrest all thugs and anyone who tries to make trouble in the jurisdictions of Banten Regional Police,” Police Inspector General Rudy Heriyanto explained, Wednesday (06/23/21).
Chief of Banten Regional Police through Head of Public Affairs of Banten Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Edy Sumardi explained the results of the 13th day of operation resulted in the arrestment of 62 people from the following areas:
1. Banten Regional Police: thuggery 6 people
2. Serang City Resort Police: 5 people thuggery
3. Cilegon Resort Police: 4 people thuggery.
4. Tangerang City Resort Police: thuggery 13 people and extortion 3 people
5. Lebak Resort Police: 31 people.
Head of Public Affairs of Banten Regional Police said the actions taken varied, ranging from data collection, handed over to Social Service to law enforcement if someone committed the violation.
“We collect data and submitting it to a social agency, while until now there has been no violation of criminal law, so no legal action is taken,” the Banten Police Intermediate Officer explained.
Police Commissioner Edy Sumardi explained the pattern of operations is by prioritizing preventive and law enforcement for perpetrators who violated the law. This thuggery operation involved hundreds of joint personnel, consisting of Indonesia National Police, Indonesia National Armed Forces, Regional Government and community.
“The purpose of this operation is to provide a sense of security for the community and manifesting security and public order in Banten Regional Police area,” Head of Public Affairs of Banten Regional Police concluded.
