inp.polri.go.id – The South Sulawesi Regional Police uncovered the practice of human trafficking in Makassar. One pimp has been named a suspect.

“We have named JR as a suspect, with five women he sold,” explained the Head of Sub-Directorate of Youth, Children and Women, Commissioner Religia Faradikta.

The suspect will be charged with Article 2 Subs Article 12 of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Trafficking in Persons.

The suspect was arrested at a hotel in Makassar city based on reports from the public.

The suspect has been carrying out this criminal violation since 2019 by selling several women through an online conversation application. From the transactions between the buyer, his women, and him, he gets a share of 30 percent from his girls.

The Director of General Criminal Investigation of South Sulawesi Police, AKBP Jamaludin Farti, confirmed that he would continue to develop investigations to thoroughly dismantle the human trafficking network in South Sulawesi.
