INP Chief Orders Strict Acton against Smuggling of Used Clothing
Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo instructed his subordinates to look for the root cause of the problem and inspect the used clothing import activities.
The instruction was issued following the fury of President Joko Widodo over the rise of imported used clothes deemed disrupting the domestic textile industry.
“In line with the President’s instructions, I have instructed my subordinates to carry out an inspection,” the Chief said on Sunday (3/19/2023).
He emphasized that the INP would not hesitate to take firm action against the smuggling of used clothing.
“I ask for strict action against smuggling, which is indeed prohibited by the government,” said the general. .
His instruction was seen as the INP commitment to oversee and secure all government policy and programs, particularly to maintain domestic economic growth including the domestic market.
“The INP must be able to implement the President’s policy,” he said.
