Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The government of Indonesia addressed four main issues during the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s 49th Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers in Nouakchott, Mauritania on Monday (20/3/23), calling on called on the OIC to be a more united, adaptive, and beneficial organization for both of its members and the world.

Director of Multilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Tri Haryat raised the four issues, namely the women’s rights issues, the OIC roles in Afghanistan, the OIC support for Palestine and the cooperation among the OIC member states,

He said that the OIC has to prioritize women’s rights issues by taking concrete steps to improve the situation of women, including advocating for their right to education and other freedoms.

“OIC has to be at the forefront of the agenda,” the director emphasized.

He highlighted the importance of the OIC’s role in addressing the situation in Afghanistan by putting pressure on the Taliban government to revoke policies that restrict women’s rights and ensure that they are given equal opportunities for growth and development.

The director aslo underlined the importance of OIC to support Palestine’s independence.

“The OIC must take concrete steps to help Palestine in the midst of Israel’s colonization and oppression,” he said.

Lastly, he underlined the significance of reinforcing cooperation among the OIC member states to promote their welfare in several areas, including vaccine development, disaster management, and the halal industry.
