– Tangerang Selatan. Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, the Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP), has instructed the International Relations Division of the INP to collaborate with other countries in combating human trafficking crimes (TPPO). These instructions align with President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo’s directive to eliminate such cases, explicitly investigating those protecting TPPO perpetrators.

“I urge the International Relations Division to work together with our counterparts in other countries to identify syndicates that collaborate with groups in Indonesia. This will enable us to enforce the law to eradicate the victimization of our people by TPPO,” he said in a press conference on Wednesday (May 31, 2023).

Moreover, he disclosed that the data gathered reveals a significant number of nine million individuals work abroad, out of which five million departed illegally. As a result, the INP is actively engaged in safeguarding their rights

“The President has assigned the INP crucial role of being daily implementer of the TPPO Task Force, which was previously under the purview of the Ministry of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection. We will promptly initiate necessary measures,” he said.
