Inp.polri.go.id – Jayapura. The Papua Regional Police is taking measures to strengthen security along the Indonesia-Papua New Guinea border, especially focusing on the interception of illegal routes commonly exploited by perpetrators of human trafficking crimes (TPPO).

Brigadier General Ramdani Hidayat, the Vice Chief of Papua Regional Police, emphasized the importance of regular coordination with border security forces as a preventive action.He stated that ongoing collaboration will be maintained to ensure effective border control and interception of criminal activities.

He stated that the police personnel will be strategically deployed along these routes, and the Samapta Directorate will utilize tracking dogs to identify any suspected illegal items entering Indonesia through these routes.

“As soon as the Skouw Sub-Sector Police Station is officially opened, the Papua Regional Police will provide personnel support and establish Border Police Units, including the Sota Merauke Sector Police Station,” he stated, as quoted by Antara on Friday (9/6/23).

He added that once the police station is inaugurated, 15 personnel will be assigned to strengthen the operations. In his closing address, he expressed his hope that these concerted efforts will effectively combat TPPO along the illegal border routes.
