inp.polri.go.id - Bekasi. A series of accidents between a taxi and three trains in total occurred near East Bekasi Station, Bekasi City, on Monday (4/27/2026). The incident resulted in 14 fatalities and 84 injuries, necessitating swift action by police and relevant agencies at the scene.

The Head of Public Relations for the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto, stated that the incident began when the taxi crossed the railroad crossing near East Bekasi Station. 

Unfortunately, the taxi stopped in the middle of the railway due to an engine failure, resulting in the oncoming train being unable to avoid the collision. Officers who received the report immediately went to the scene to administer initial action.

Due to the accident with the taxi, the Commuter Line train from Kampung Bandan to Cikarang had to wait for the clearance. Meanwhile, as the Commuter Line was waiting in East Bekasi Station, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train was heading to the station, failing to break the speed at the proper time after an error in the warning system, causing the two trains to collide.

Budi explained that the police are supporting the recovery process, from securing the scene to evacuating victims.

"The police are supporting the evacuation, recovery, and identification of victims so that the entire recovery process can proceed quickly and accurately," said Budi on Tuesday (4/28/2026).

Budi added that the bodies of 10 victims are currently at the Kramat Jati Bhayangkara Hospital, and they are still being identified as their identities are unknown. The identification process is ongoing by a joint team to ensure that the victims' information can be quickly identified and handed over to their families.

He appealed to the public who feel they have lost family members following the incident to immediately visit the Kramat Jati Police Hospital. This step will assist in the data matching process and expedite the victim identification process.
