The Minister stated that hundreds of warehouses were built throughout Indonesia to store the government's rice reserves managed by the State Logistics Agency (Bulog), especially in areas that currently lack adequate food storage facilities.

The existence of post-harvest infrastructure is considered an anticipatory measure by the government in addressing various food distribution dynamics by ensuring the availability of food stocks and supplies are maintained sustainably throughout Indonesia.

Through the construction of post-harvest storage and support facilities, the government aims to make food distribution more effective, thereby minimizing the risk of supply disruptions that could potentially trigger price fluctuations.

The infrastructure development program is supported by a budget of approximately IDR 5 trillion, with construction sites prepared in various national food production centers.

According to Andi, post-harvest infrastructure development is a long-term solution to strengthen the national food system, maintain food availability, streamline distribution, and ensure fair prices for the public.

"This is a permanent solution. So there's no longer any reason for rice prices to rise. We want to build a strong system so that food is always available, distribution runs smoothly, and the public receives fair prices," he said.

The Minister explained that the warehouses being built will become key nodes in the national food ecosystem, integrated with the Red and White Village Cooperative (Kopdes Merah Putih), Bulog, and the Free Nutritional Meals (MBG) program.

He emphasized the urgency of infrastructure development, given the increasingly robust national rice stocks managed by Bulog. Currently, the government's rice reserve (CBP) reached 5.3 million tons as of early June.

With such a strong stock volume exceeding Bulog's national warehouse capacity of around 3 million tons, a subsidiary warehouse scheme has been implemented to ensure Bulog's rice stocks are well-maintained and can be promptly distributed to stabilize food security.
