inp.polri.go.id - North Sumatra. The North Sumatra Regional Police have deployed 108 personnel at Kualanamu International Airport in Deli Serdang to assist and provide services to passengers affected by flight disruptions due to the eruption of Mount Anak Krakatau.

"We are providing security and services to ensure the situation at Kualanamu Airport remains conducive amidst the disruption to flight operations," said Head of Public Relations for the North Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ferry Walintukan in Medan on Monday (9/7/2026).

Hundreds of personnel are stationed at several strategic locations, including the rapid response post, departure information area, arrival gates, terminal areas, and the airport grounds.

"The presence of these personnel is expected to provide a sense of security and assist the public affected by the change in flight schedules," he said.

In addition to maintaining security, personnel are also anticipating passenger complaints, long queues in airline service areas, and traffic congestion at airport access points and passenger terminals.

Officers are also continuously monitoring the situation at Kualanamu Airport and coordinating with airport management, airlines, the Indonesian National Military (TNI), Avsec, and several other stakeholders.

"We are also providing health services to passengers who need them," he said.

Ferry explained that these measures are being taken to ensure the public remains safe and receives the assistance and information they need while at Kualanamu Airport.

The North Sumatra Regional Police urge the public and airline users to remain calm, follow the directions of officers, and monitor official information from airlines and Kualanamu Airport management regarding flight schedule updates.

Previously, PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi, the operator of Kualanamu International Airport, stated that 51 flights to and from Kualanamu had been adjusted due to the impact of the volcanic ash from Mount Anak Krakatau.

"Preliminary data shows that 51 flights to and from Kualanamu have been adjusted," explained Mohamad Hikmat Hidayat, Manager of Corporate Affairs at PT Angkasa Pura Aviasi, in Deli Serdang.
