inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi stated that the actual number of people traveling during Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri/2026 AD reached 147.55 million across Indonesia, using various modes of transportation.

"For trips during Eid al-Fitr, the number of people traveling reached 147.55 million, a 2.53 percent increase from our survey of 143.92 million people," said Dudy on Monday (3/30/2026).

He explained that the increase in actual travel, which reached approximately 2.53 percent, reflects the high mobility of people traveling during the Eid al-Fitr period in 2026.

The survey was previously conducted by the Ministry of Transportation in collaboration with the Research and Industry Affiliated Institute of the Bandung Institute of Technology (LAPI ITB), the Central Statistics Agency (BPS), and the Ministry of Communication and Digital (Komdigi) to map the potential for public movement.

The survey involved approximately 55,000 respondents from various regions across Indonesia to obtain representative data on travel patterns in the run-up to this year's Eid al-Fitr.

The survey results indicated that 143.92 million people had the potential to travel, but the actual figures were higher than the initial projection.

According to the Minister of Transportation, the difference between the survey results and the actual figures was influenced by various factors and considerations people had when deciding to travel during the Eid al-Fitr period.

These various factors will be further evaluated by the Ministry of Transportation to understand the dynamics of people's travel behavior during the upcoming Eid al-Fitr period in greater depth.

However, the government had anticipated this surge in travel with various policies and strengthened transportation services to ensure the smooth flow of travelers for the Eid al-Fitr homecoming and return trips.

He stated that this year's Eid al-Fitr transportation generally ran smoothly without any significant disruptions affecting public mobility during the period.

Furthermore, the accident rate during the Eid al-Fitr period also decreased, indicating an improvement in safety aspects in national transportation operations during this period throughout Indonesia.

"This success is inseparable from the cooperation of all stakeholders involved in organizing Eid al-Fitr transportation, from the government to transportation operators in various sectors," said Dudy.
