inp.polri.go.id - Banjarbaru. The South Kalimantan Regional Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate confiscated 172.4 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine and 556 ecstasy pills in the two-month period from May 24 to July 21, 2026.

"We have destroyed the evidence seized in the last two months today," said South Kalimantan Regional Police Chief Inspector General Rosyanto Yudha Hermawan in Banjarbaru on Tuesday (8/4/2026).

The evidence was collected from the arrests of 39 suspects, consisting of 35 men and four women.

Rosyanto stated that the seizure of the thwarted drugs saved at least 863,033 lives from the abuse of these illicit drugs.

This also prevented the state and public from spending IDR 4.3 trillion on rehabilitation costs for addicts.

"We also disrupted the circulation of money from the black market for drug trafficking, estimated at IDR 311 billion," he said.

Yudha emphasized that the destruction of narcotics evidence, in accordance with statutory requirements, demonstrates transparency and accountability in the investigation, led by the Director of the South Kalimantan Regional Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, Senior Superintendent Baktiar Joko Mujiono.

"The police are demonstrating to the public that this narcotics evidence has been destroyed through an open process and guarantee that it will not be circulated again or misused," he said.

On that occasion, South Kalimantan Governor Muhidin stated that the South Kalimantan Regional Police's success in eradicating drug trafficking is commendable, given the large amount of evidence seized over time.

"This proves our police are working hard. Let us continue to support them by providing even the smallest information if we have any indication of distribution or misuse," he said.
