inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The Medan Sub-regional City Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit seized 24 kilograms of methamphetamine hidden behind the walls of a car and suspected of being shipped from Aceh to Jakarta.
The Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit Chief, Superintendent Rafli Yusuf Nugraha, stated that the discovery was the result of an investigation into the seizure of two kilograms of methamphetamine in the Medan Sunggal area approximately six months ago.
"From the investigation, we obtained information that a shipment of methamphetamine was being carried from Aceh to Jakarta by a man identified as FS (25)," he said in Medan on Friday (7/24/2026).
Following up on this information, officers conducted an investigation and detected the perpetrator's vehicle traveling on the Trans-Sumatra Toll Road in Asahan Regency.
When stopped, the perpetrator attempted to flee, leading to a pursuit on the toll road. The perpetrator then abandoned the car on the side of the road and ran into a palm oil plantation.
"The perpetrator abandoned the car on the road and fled into the palm oil plantation. After a pursuit, officers successfully apprehended him," said Rafli.
During the initial investigation, officers found no evidence. However, upon closer inspection, officers discovered 24 packages of methamphetamine hidden in various parts of the car's walls.
"The entire 24 kilograms of methamphetamine was hidden behind the car's walls to prevent it from being easily detected during the search," he said.
The police are still investigating the case to uncover the drug trafficking network suspected of being involved in the shipment of methamphetamine from Aceh to Jakarta.
The perpetrator and evidence have been secured at the Medan Sub-regional Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Unit to undergo legal proceedings in accordance with applicable provisions.
