inp.polri.go.id - South Sumatra. The South Sumatra Regional Police destroyed narcotics evidence from the disclosure of 17 police reports involving 22 suspects during August 2026. 

This destruction is part of the police's decisive action to break the chain of illicit drug trafficking and protect the public from the threat of drug abuse.

The process began with an examination of the evidence by the Forensic Laboratory Division officers, followed by the destruction and signing of the destruction report by the relevant parties.

The evidence seized in this case consisted of 2,670.69 grams of methamphetamine and 200 ecstasy pills. Based on calculations in the destruction data, this amount of narcotics is estimated to prevent drug abuse in 27,106 people.

After being set aside for evidence in court and laboratory testing, the destroyed evidence consisted of 2,665.57 grams of methamphetamine and 196 ecstasy pills. 

In total, the narcotics evidence has an estimated street value of IDR 1,652,414,000. The value consists of crystal methamphetamine worth IDR 1,602,414,000 and ecstasy worth IDR 50,000,000.

The cases were uncovered across several regions in South Sumatra, including four police reports in Palembang, one in Banyuasin, two in Musi Banyuasin, two in Ogan Komering Ilir, one in North Musi Rawas, six in Muara Enim, and one in Prabumulih.

Head of the Investigation Supervision Division of the Narcotics Investigation Directorate of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Superintendent .M. Syeh Kopek, in his closing remarks at the press conference, emphasized the police's stance on narcotics crimes.

This affirmation sends a strong message that the South Sumatra Regional Police will not condone anyone involved in illicit drug trafficking. Any perpetrators will be firmly prosecuted in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, on another occasion urged the public not to remain passive in the face of the threat of drug trafficking. They are expected to be part of a joint effort to prevent drug abuse and break the chain of drug distribution.

"The public should never try, use, store, or be involved in drug trafficking. If you know any activity related to illicit drug trafficking, report it immediately to the police," advised Nandang.
