inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Tangerang City Sub-regional Metro Police have uncovered 52 street crimes in the past month in Tangerang. The cases uncovered were dominated by motor vehicle theft.

Tangerang City Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Raden Muhammad Jauhari, stated that the cases comprised 44 motorcycle thefts, three aggravated thefts, two violent thefts, two common thefts, and one assault.

"In these investigations, we have identified 36 suspects with various roles, from the main perpetrators, jockeys, to receivers of the proceeds of crime," explained Raden on Thursday (5/14/2026).

Police also secured evidence including four cars, 26 motorcycles, homemade firearms and ammunition, sharp weapons, dozens of T-keys, cell phones, vehicle registration certificates, and electric shock devices.

In uncovering the case, the police highlighted five prominent cases: a motorcycle theft ring armed with firearms in Jatiuwung, an ATM theft syndicate in Ciledug, armed theft perpetrators in Karang Tengah, a car window-breaking gang across the Cipondoh-Serpong area, and a mob attack involving two foreign nationals on the Jakarta-Tangerang toll road.

In the armed motorcycle theft case, the police arrested four suspects along with evidence in the form of homemade firearms and ammunition. Two perpetrators were known to have been involved in vehicle thefts at dozens of locations in Bandar Lampung. Meanwhile, in the ATM theft case, the perpetrators used plastic to jam the victim's ATM card before stealing the card and PIN.

Raden emphasized that the police will continue to increase patrols and take action against various forms of street crime to maintain public order and security in the Tangerang area.

"We are committed to eradicating all forms of street crime to provide a sense of security to the public," Raden emphasized.
