inp.polri.gi.id - Kendari. The Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police Narcotics Investigation Directorate, destroyed 5.4 kilograms of narcotics evidence seized from April to July 2026.

Senior Superintendent Iis Kristian, Head of Public Relations for the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, stated that the destroyed evidence consisted of 3.37 kilograms of methamphetamine and 2.07 grams of marijuana.

He stated that this destruction was part of the law enforcement process and a form of transparency regarding successfully solved narcotics cases. The police estimate that the total amount of evidence destroyed has saved approximately 54,536 lives from the dangers of narcotics abuse.

"The evidence destroyed today comes from cases uncovered between April and July 2026. All evidence has gone through the legal process, from the court's decision to confiscate the items, the prosecutor's determination of their status, to re-examination by the police medical team," said Iis Kristian in Kendari on Tuesday (8/4/2026).

He emphasized that this destruction was not only to comply with investigative procedures, but also to prevent the illicit goods from circulating back into the community.

Meanwhile, the Director of Narcotics Investigation at the Southeast Sulawesi Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Amri Yudhy Syamsualam Rama Wispha, revealed that the discovery involved five suspects, including a housewife, with the cases spread across Kendari City, South Konawe Regency, and Kolaka Regency.

Amri also highlighted the alarming trend in drug trafficking in Southeast Sulawesi.

"Judging by the amount of evidence seized, Southeast Sulawesi is now starting to become a destination market for drug trafficking. Therefore, we urgently need public support to provide information so that drug trafficking can be prevented early," Amri stated.

He added that all the destroyed evidence came from five police reports (LP) and one marijuana item recovered from Customs.
