inp.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. The Narcotics Investigation Unit of the Pekanbaru Sub-regional City Police, Riau, uncovered 82 narcotics crimes from May to September 2026. As a result of these arrests, police arrested 128 suspects.
The Head of the Pekanbaru Sub-regional City Police Narcotics Investigation Unit, Police Senior Inspector Noki Loviko, stated in Pekanbaru on Monday (9/14/2026), that police also secured several pieces of narcotics evidence, including 1,124 grams of methamphetamine, 3,131 ecstasy pills, 130 Happy Five pills, and 107 vape cartridges containing etomidate.
Of the 128 suspects arrested, 105 were male and 23 were female.
"Based on the amount of evidence seized, we estimate we have saved approximately 10,579 lives from potential drug abuse," said Loviko.
As part of the case handling process, the police destroyed some of the seized evidence. The destruction was carried out by crushing the evidence using a blender and then mixing it with cleaning fluid to prevent its reuse.
"The destruction was carried out transparently and in accordance with procedures. This is our shared commitment to drug distribution and abuse," he said.
Noki explained that the destruction of the evidence was carried out in accordance with procedures as part of the law enforcement process for the narcotics cases that have been successfully solved.
According to him, the suspects, who acted as distributors and dealers, are charged under Article 114 paragraph (2) of Law Number 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code in conjunction with Law Number 1 of 2026 concerning Criminal Adjustments.
Noki also urged the public to play a role in breaking the chain of drug distribution by denying dealers and distributors the opportunity to operate.
"Collaboration from all parties is needed to narrow the scope for dealers and distributors to operate, and to collectively break the chain of drug distribution," he said.
