The Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police General Criminal Investigation Directorate arrested a man with the initials RD alias D (25) in connection with the alleged murder of an online motorcycle taxi driver with the initials ATP. The suspect is also suspected of stealing the victim's motorcycle after the murder.
The General Criminal Investigation Director, Senior Superintendent Iman Imanuddin, stated that the suspect was arrested by the police at 12:30 a.m. The arrest took place at a rented house on Bunderan Kamal street, Kamal Muara Village, Penjaringan District, North Jakarta.
"The team has arrested a man with the initials RD alias D, who has been named a suspect in the alleged murder of an online motorcycle taxi driver and theft with violence resulting in the victim's death," explained Iman, Tuesday (7/14/2026).
The murder occurred on Sunday (7/12/2026) at around 3:50 a.m. in the Villa Taman Bandara housing complex, Dadap Village, Kosambi District, Tangerang Regency. The victim was found injured and unconscious before being pronounced dead.
Head of the Jakarta Regional Metro Police Mobile Brigade Sub-Directorate, Superintendent Resa F. Marasabessy, added that the case was solved through crime scene investigation, witness interviews, observation of the area, and analysis of CCTV footage.
"From the investigation, the team obtained CCTV footage that identified the perpetrator. Based on this information, the team conducted a search and successfully arrested the suspect in the Kamal Muara area, North Jakarta," said Resa.
During the arrest, police secured several pieces of evidence, including a knife, the suspect's cell phone, the victim's cell phone, a wallet containing identity cards, and a pair of sandals. The suspect and the evidence were then taken by the police for further questioning and investigation.
Meanwhile, Head of Jakarta Regional Metro Police, Senior Superintendent Budi Hermanto urged the public to immediately report any crime or security disturbances to the police.
"The public can go to the nearest police station or call the police hotline 110. Information from the public is crucial to assisting the police in responding quickly and maintaining public security," said Budi.
