Inp.polri.go.id - Magelang. Minister of Agriculture Andi Amran Sulaiman issued a stern warning on Thursday (16/4/2026) to soybean importers, threatening to revoke their licenses if they are found guilty of unreasonable price manipulation.
The warning follows a sharp rise in soybean prices, which have climbed to approximately Rp 11,500 per kilogram from a previous average of Rp 9,000 per kilogram. During a visit to Magelang, Central Java, the Minister emphasized that the government would not tolerate actions that jeopardize the livelihoods of small businesses, particularly tofu and tempeh producers who rely heavily on affordable soybean stocks.
"We have asked importers not to raise prices arbitrarily. If I find anyone exploiting the public, I will revoke their permits and bar them from importing next year," he said, as cited by antaranews.com.
The price surge, which began at the start of the fasting month, has significantly impacted the production costs for local artisans. While the government is currently monitoring for concrete evidence of violations, officials have already coordinated with distributors and importers to adhere to reference prices and maintain supply stability.
