Since early morning, the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, supported by the Indonesian National Military (TNI), has entered the Korowai Batu Airport to secure the area. Their focus is to evacuate the two plane crews who fell victim to the attack the day before.

Head of the 2026 Damai Cartenz Task Force, Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, emphasized that their swift move is taken to ensure the situation remains under control.

“Since morning, our personnel have managed to secure the airport area and evacuate the two victims to Timika. The safety of people and the stability of the situation is our focus in this operation,” emphasized Faizal.

The two victims have been evacuated to Timika for an identification process and autopsy. After the autopsy, the bodies will be flown to Jakarta to be returned to their respective families.

Meanwhile the 13 airplane passengers are confirmed to be safe. They were locals who managed to save themselves and have been returned to their homes safely.

Currently, investigation is underway and the authority guarantees that they are present not only to enforce the law, but also to protect the local community.
