Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Immigration officials at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport foiled the escape of a British Interpol fugitive, identified by the initials SL, immediately upon his arrival in Bali on Saturday (28/3/2026).
"Bali will never be a hiding place for fugitives," declared Bugie Kurniawan, the Head of the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, following the arrest, as cited by antaranews.com.
The 45-year-old suspect, who had just landed on a flight from Singapore, was flagged by the automated immigration system as a subject of an Interpol Red Notice. Intelligence data suggests that he is a high-level leader of an international criminal organization allegedly involved in operating fictitious companies and large-scale money laundering.
Felucia Sengky Ratna, the Head of the Bali Regional Office for the Directorate General of Immigration, praised the integrated surveillance system for its responsiveness to transnational threats. Following his detention in the international arrivals hall, the British fugitive was handed over to the I Gusti Ngurah Rai Airport Police to undergo formal international fugitive transfer procedures.
