Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The Bandung City Sub-regional Police launched an investigation on Tuesday (14/4/2026) into alleged professional negligence after a nurse at Hasan Sadikin Hospital (RSHS) nearly handed a newborn baby to the wrong individual last week.
"We are currently in the investigation phase, coordinating with relevant parties to determine if criminal elements or violations of standard of procedure occurred," said Bandung Police Criminal Investigation Unit Chief Superintendent Anton, as cited by antaranews.com.
The incident surfaced after a mother, Nina Saleha, reported on social media that a nurse in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit allegedly permitted an unidentified person to hold her infant while she was away. Investigators have visited the hospital to secure initial data and clarify whether the incident resulted from administrative errors or intentional misconduct.
Detectives are currently reviewing CCTV footage and summoning medical personnel on duty during the shift for formal clarification. Authorities emphasized that hospital protocols regarding infant discharge and ward security will be strictly scrutinized to prevent future occurrences and ensure the safety of all pediatric patients within the facility.
