Inp.polri.go.id - Tangerang. The Banten Regional Police has deployed joint security personnel to protect residential areas near the Jatiwaringin Landfill in Mauk District, Tangerang Regency, after residents evacuated due to toxic smoke.

The emergency security measures were established to prevent property crimes and looting while local families remain housed in temporary shelters.

"Currently, there are 192 people evacuating," Banten Police Chief Inspector General Hengki said on Wednesday (*/7/2026). "To anticipate security disruptions while residents' homes are left empty, police ranks are intensifying patrols in residential areas, especially at night."

Tangerang City Sub-regional Police Chief Senior Superintendent Indra Waspada added that the authorities have set up seven checkpoints around the landfill to restrict unauthorized public access. Security sweeps are supported by police officers patrolling the affected perimeter daily on dirt bikes to maintain stability during ongoing fire containment operations.
