Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Ribka Haluk confirmed on Saturday (16/5/2026) that the central government has intervened comprehensively to restore public security and stability in Wamena, Papua Mountains, following recent local conflicts.

The government aims to resolve governance issues and accelerate social recovery for all impacted communities, she said.

“On behalf of the Minister of Home Affairs representing the Central Government, we express our highest appreciation to the people of Wamena and all development components who have made rescue efforts,” Deputy Minister Ribka said during a coordination meeting in Jakarta.

She announced that regional administrations will immediately register affected residents to accurately allocate emergency funding from regional and central budgets.

The Ministry of Home Affairs will facilitate a Special Regional Regulation (Perdasus) to establish clear legal frameworks for conflict resolution across eight regencies, she said. Meanwhile, local officials are coordinating the phased relocation of refugees back to their homes.
