Brigadier General Jermias Rontini, the Chief of the Central Papua Regional Police, guaranteed on Thursday (9/4/2026) that the legal proceedings following recent violence in Dogiyai Regency will remain transparent and impartial, targeting both civilians and security personnel found in violation of the law.
"We ensure there is no tolerance for anyone who violates regulations. The legal process will proceed until it reaches the courtroom," he said during a strategic dialogue with local government officials and community leaders in Dogiyai, as reported by antaranews.com.
The police chief emphasized that the primary mission is to restore regional stability after incidents resulted in casualties on both sides. He clarified that there were never any instructions to fire upon civilians, stressing that any police action must be firm yet measured.
To accelerate the investigation, Chief Jermias appointed Superintendent Denis A. Putra as the Acting Chief of Dogiyai Police, granting him a six-month mandate to resolve the cases with support from Indonesian National Police (INP Headquarters.
