inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Soekarno-Hatta (Soetta) Customs and Excise Main Service Office C in Tangerang, Banten, arrested CJ (39), a foreign national from China, who was caught bringing 1,915 grams of Class I narcotics 3,4-methylenedioxy-methamphetamine (MDMA), into Indonesia's largest airport.

Head of Soekarno-Hatta Customs and Excise, Hengky Tomuan Parlindungan Aritonang, stated that the smuggling of MDMA mixed with cocaine in powder form and etomidate in vape pods was uncovered following an inspection of the goods by officers at the airport.

"This action is the result of an ongoing risk analysis operation and cross-agency synergy implemented during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 H holiday period in 2026," he said in a press conference in Tangerang on Friday (3/27/2026).

He explained that the Chinese national, identified as a courier, was arrested after being found carrying narcotics after arriving in Indonesia on a flight from Techo International Airport, Cambodia (KTI) to Jakarta (CGK) on Friday evening (3/20/2026).

"The passenger is suspected of being a narcotics courier, possessing 1,915 grams of Class I narcotic MDMA, concealed in a suitcase to evade inspection officers," he explained.

Following the case, Customs and Excise, along with the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police Narcotics Unit, conducted further investigation.

Hengky explained that on Tuesday (3/24/2026), a further inspection of the package, declared as a toy, was conducted, but eight other items were found: vape pods containing Class II narcotic etomidate liquid, shipped with false declaration, bound for Kemayoran, Central Jakarta.

Meanwhile, Soekarno-Hatta Airport Sub-regional Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Whisnu Wardana, added that the two perpetrators have been detained. Currently, his team is conducting further investigations into the MDMA.

"With the large amount of MDMA evidence, nearly 2 kilograms, we will conduct further investigations to determine whether the evidence is used as raw material or something else," he explained.

Whisnu added that his team is currently hunting for a Chinese national who controlled the MDMA shipment to Indonesia.
