Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A viral social media post claiming Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto barred citizens from withdrawing funds from government-issued BRI and BSI bank accounts has been confirmed as fake news.
The misleading claim circulated on Facebook alongside a photo of Minister Hartarto, asserting that initial account balances provided under government social assistance programs could not be cashed out.
Fact-checking verification confirmed that the government plans to open BRI and BSI accounts for Indonesian citizens aged 17 and above to streamline social assistance (bansos) distribution under President Prabowo Subianto's initiative.
Official clarifications confirm that each account will receive an initial balance ranging between Rp 50,000 and Rp 80,000, which recipients are fully permitted to withdraw. The public is urged to verify financial information through official government channels and refrain from sharing unverified digital content.
