inp.polri.go.id - Sukabumi. The Indonesian National Police (INP) Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo urged the younger generation to take advantage of the demographic bonus by continuously improving their personal qualities, education, skills, and character.
This was conveyed by him during his remarks at the 2026 National Scout Camp Ceremony of the Islamic Ummah Association (PUI) at the Selabintana Camping Ground, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, on Thursday (9/3/2026).
According to General Sigit, the demographic bonus presents a significant opportunity for Indonesia because the population of productive age will exceed the non-productive age group. This momentum must be well-prepared to become a force that will propel Indonesia to leap towards becoming a developed nation.
"This momentum only occurs once in every country. If we successfully capitalize on this momentum by improving the quality of our human resources and working hard, we are confident that Indonesia will make the leap to becoming a developed nation," said Sigit.
According to him, the success of utilizing the demographic bonus is largely determined by the quality of the next generation, who possess not only knowledge and skills, but also character, discipline, compassion, and a spirit of unity.
In this context, the INP Chief assessed the Scout Movement as having a strategic position in preparing a superior generation and future leaders. Various educational and training programs within the Scout Movement instill discipline, independence, mutual cooperation, social interaction, and a concern for helping others.
Sigit even shared his experience as a Scout member from the Siaga level in elementary school through high school. This experience convinced him that the Scout Movement is the right platform for young people to develop their potential and prepare for the future.
"I am confident that these young people in front of me are selected young people who have correctly chosen the Scout Movement as a platform to prepare themselves as the next generation," he said.
On the other hand, the INP Chief warned that the demographic bonus could also pose challenges if the younger generation is not properly prepared. Various negative influences such as drugs, online gambling, brawls, gang involvement, crime, and the spread of negative ideologies through social media must be avoided, as they can damage the future of the younger generation.
Sigit urged that technological developments not be shunned but rather utilized wisely as a means of improving skills. The presence of smartphones, social media, artificial intelligence, and various digital platforms has opened up wider opportunities for the younger generation to acquire knowledge without being limited by space and time.
The INP Chief also reminded the younger generation that Indonesia's progress requires unity amidst diversity. The values of Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (Unity in Diversity) should not be limited to memorization but must be implemented in daily life.
According to him, Indonesia's ethnic, cultural, and diverse natural resources will be a great strength if all elements of the nation are able to maintain them within a framework of unity.
Concluding his remarks, the INP Chief emphasized that they are ready to be a partner for the younger generation in developing their potential and achieving their dreams. He hoped that all participants in the PUI National Scout Camp would continue to prepare themselves to play a role in Indonesia's journey towards the future.
