inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Abdullah, a member of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), asked the police to investigate the flow of money in the inter-provincial counterfeit stamp manufacturing and distribution syndicate, which has the potential to cause state financial losses of up to IDR 1.03 trillion.
Therefore, he said, the police and the Directorate General of Taxes must not stop at arresting the 16 suspects, but also investigate the intellectual actors behind the counterfeit stamp syndicate.
"The intellectual actors or financiers must be uncovered. Considering that stamp counterfeiting is an organized and recurring crime, firm action must be taken all the way down to the elite level or its head," Abdullah said in Jakarta on Thursday (8/20/2026).
According to him, the police need to uncover the flow of money in this counterfeit case and even investigate potential money laundering. He also asked the police to uncover other counterfeit stamp syndicates, in addition to those already arrested.
"Who received and benefited from the money, and whether any of it was diverted into assets? If indications are found, we must also investigate the human trafficking case," he said.
On the other hand, he also suggested that relevant parties increase public education on how to verify the authenticity of stamps. For example, he said, by comparing counterfeit and genuine stamps using their paper, hologram, and microtext.
"I believe that public awareness campaigns through public service announcements and public education are still insufficient," he said.
