inp.polri.go.id - East Kutai. The Narcotics Criminal Investigation Unit of the East Kutai Police has uncovered a drug crime in North Sangatta. Investigators arrested one suspect and seized several pieces of evidence strongly suspected of being linked to the distribution of methamphetamine.
The East Kutai Sub-regional Police Chief, Superintendent Fauzan Arianto, stated in an official statement that the case stemmed from information from the public reporting suspicious activity related to drug transactions on Durian I street, North Sangatta Village, North Sangatta District.
Following up on this information, police personnel immediately conducted an investigation and, on Saturday (4/25/2026), apprehended a man identified as (A) at a house in the area.
"During the search, officers found evidence in the form of three clear plastic bags containing white crystals suspected to be methamphetamine, weighing 1.40 grams, along with several other paraphernalia related to drug abuse and distribution," said Fauzan on Sunday (4/26/2026).
In addition to the methamphetamine, investigators also confiscated nine plastic clips, a cigarette pack used for storage, a mobile phone, a headset box, a measuring spoon, and a glass pipette suspected of being used in the activity.
Based on initial interrogation, the suspect admitted that the illicit goods belonged to him and were obtained from an individual who is currently under further investigation by the police.
Fauzan emphasized that his team will continue to investigate the wider drug distribution network in the East Kutai area. The suspect and the evidence are currently being held at police HQ for further legal proceedings in accordance with applicable regulations.
"We are committed to eradicating drug trafficking down to its roots. We strongly encourage public participation in providing information to support law enforcement efforts," he emphasized.
For his actions, the perpetrator was charged under Article 114 paragraph (1) of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning Narcotics, in conjunction with the latest legal provisions regarding criminal penalties.
