inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Sub-Directorate 3 of the Jakarta Regional Metropolitan Police Drugs Criminal Investigation Directorate has disrupted the trafficking of 32,044 grams of methamphetamine, or 32 kilograms, suspected to have originated from a Malaysian network.
In the operation, police arrested a suspect identified as VAR (32) on Saturday afternoon (5/9/2026).
"We have again thwarted the trafficking of an international methamphetamine network, seizing approximately 30 kilograms of evidence and one suspect, identified as VAR (32)," said Head of Sub-Directorate 3, Superintendent Ade Candra, on Monday (5/18/2026).
The arrest stemmed from public information regarding narcotics trafficking activity on Kirana Legacy street, Cilincing, North Jakarta. After conducting an investigation, police secured VAR along with two large packages of methamphetamine wrapped in brown duct tape, weighing a total of 2,169 grams.
Based on the initial interrogation, officers then conducted further investigations at an apartment in Bekasi Regency. At the second location, police found 28 large packages of methamphetamine with a total gross weight of approximately 29.7 kilograms, along with other evidence, including manual scales, a cutter, a large bag, and a cell phone.
Based on preliminary investigation, the suspect admitted to obtaining the illicit goods from someone in Malaysia. Investigators suspect the methamphetamine is part of an international drug trafficking network operating across borders.
"We secured the suspect and the evidence at a Sayana apartment in Bekasi. The source of the methamphetamine was Malaysia and was destined for distribution in Jakarta and the surrounding areas," he explained.
