Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Bahlil Lahadalia has called for an end to panic buying or hoarding of fuel following reports of surging global crude oil prices triggered by escalating conflict in the Gulf region.
"I advise and request that there is no need for panic buying because our fuel stocks are sufficient; while our storage capacity is 21 to 25 days, supplies are continuous, our industry remains operational, and our imports face no issues," he said at the Presidential Palace on Tuesday (10/3/2026), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The Minister clarified that while the Navy of Iran has restricted access to the Strait of Hormuz, Indonesia primarily imports refined fuel from Southeast Asian nations and relies on domestic production. He further guaranteed that subsidized fuel prices will remain unchanged until the Eid al-Fitr holiday, despite global crude prices briefly exceeding $100 per barrel.
Supporting this stance, Minister of FinancePurbaya Yudhi Sadewa confirmed that the national budget remains resilient enough to absorb these fluctuations. He noted that current price spikes have not significantly altered the annual subsidy assumptions, ensuring that state funding for energy remains secure for the foreseeable future.
