Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa announced plans to implement electric vehicle (EV) incentives starting June 2026, aiming to shift public consumption from fuel to electricity to bolster Indonesia's economic resilience by reducing dependence on imported oil and crude.
"We will calculate and prepare the budget. Clearly, I want this to be implemented by early June," he said during a Financial System Stability Committee (KSSK) press conference in Jakarta on Thursday (7/6/2026).
The minister emphasized that the primary goal is energy independence rather than just the subsidy itself.
The government targets 100,000 electric cars and 100,000 electric motorcycles this year. Incentives include a Rp5 million subsidy per motorcycle and a Value Added Tax Borne by the Government of 40% to 100% for electric cars. The tax relief varies based on battery type, with nickel-based EV batteries receiving higher subsidies to support domestic industry.
