inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that it will expedite the repatriation of thousands of Indonesian citizens affected by online fraud syndicates in Cambodia.
"We have coordinated with relevant ministries/institutions to explore several options to expedite the repatriation of Indonesian citizens still in Cambodia," said Heni Hamidah, Acting Director of Protection of Indonesian Citizens, on Thursday (2/19/2026).
According to Heni, this effort is being made because the Cambodian government has issued a warning to all foreign missions in the country to immediately repatriate their citizens suspected of being involved in online fraud activities.
Heni stated that this warning increases the urgency for the Indonesian government to expedite the repatriation of Indonesian citizens from Cambodia, especially those who already have travel documents and have received immigration fine waivers.
The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs official confirmed that 2,007 Indonesian citizens – out of 4,254 former members of an online fraud syndicate who reported themselves to the Indonesian Embassy in Phnom Penh between January 16 and February 15, 2026 – have received immigration fine relief.
Meanwhile, nearly a thousand Indonesian citizens have independently obtained flight tickets to return home, with departures scheduled from February 16 to March 4, 2026.
She also confirmed that the expedited repatriation of these former members of an online fraud syndicate from Cambodia will be followed by legal action in Indonesia.
Furthermore, the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs official stated that based on the initial assessment conducted on 3,917 of the 4,254 Indonesian citizens who reported themselves, no Indonesian citizens were identified as victims of human trafficking (TPPO).
"And many Indonesian citizens have admitted their involvement in illegal activities in Cambodia, including online fraud," said Heni.
